Day 316

Today, whole India is remembering the martyrs of terrorist acttack on Mumbai. Today is the fourth anniversary. We have lost many daring officers of Mumbai police as well a commando of NSG. Kasab was the lonely survived attacker who was caught alive four years ago. But five days ago, he was hanged in the Pune jail. But the loss of lives which was done by the terrorist attacks is totally irrecoverable. Families of those innocent civilians, who lost their lives, still remember 26 November 2008 as the saddest part of their lives and they are still mourning their deaths. Its not only with the civilian families. Families of the police officers who were killed still mourn the death of those martyrs.
It was a brave act from the martyrs to not only to keep the terrorists from keeping the terrorists away from damaging the civilian’s lives and property but they tried to catch the terrorist. But the situation was of a war where you don't expect the enemy to get caught. The enemy has to be gunned down. Due to the martyrs who were killed in the Mumbai attack and the soldiers who are deputed at the borders, we are having a feeling of being safe. Hats off to those people who are sacrificing their every thing just to make sure that we are safe and sound.

Day 315

Sometimes, I feel confused. Right now, I’m in the confused state. Tomorrow, I’m going to have a test in my college. I’m studying but I’m unable to concentrate. After reading couple of pages, I’m feeling distracted. Abstract thoughts are coming in my minds which are becoming hurdle in studying. Don't know what to do now? I thought that you people might have solution to my problem. If you people are having any solution then do write it. This is the case with me whenever I sit to study. I need to concentrate. But how to do this is the main problem. That’s why I’m asking you people to help me out in this. I know that I’m not getting comments on my previous posts but today I’m not going to complaint about that. I know that my complaints are also not working. So, today I need your suggestions about how improve my concentration.

Day 314

I know I’m writing after a long gap. I’m aware of my promise also. But I was busy in the festive season. So I was absent from writing the blog. From the next week, I’ll be busy in exams. But today, I have decided to write something which has forced me to write.
First and foremost, I would like to write about the stampede in Patna on the occasion of Chatth puja. The stampede took place on the temporary wooden makeshift bridge, which was erected for the Chatth puja. The stampede was caused by the rumours that a naked electric wire has fallen on the bridge. There were many commutaters on the bridge who were going to the main road. The rumour was spread like fire in the forest and immediately the power supply was cut in the area which lead to more panic amongst the people. The makeshift bridge collapsed because devotees from another reason were diverted to this area because of the rush there. After the chaos, people were blaming Nitish Kumar and Sushil Kumar Modi for the insufficient arrangement made for the Chatth puja.
Here I would like to say that it’s ridiculous to blame the government for the mishap. Government didn’t told people to go to the makeshift bridge to make the chaos there and to spread the rumours. The government made all the possible arrangement for the convenience of the public. But public has to act sensibly that they should avoid the rumours and don't panic. If the public expects the government to perform its duty then the public should remember its duty also.
Second topic is the hanging of Ajmal Kasab. Ajmal Kasab was hanged today morning at 7.30 am at Yerawada central prison in Pune. With his hanging the judicial process of the terrorist attack has completed. The Pakistani government refused to take the letter which was send through fax by the Indian government. The letter confirmed the execution of Kasab in Pune. Irony of the case is that the Pakistani government denied having any relation of its own citizen and the attacker on the Indian soil was buried in the Indian soil. This shows the narrow mentality of the Pakistani government. Its generosity of the Indian constitution that allowed Kasab to send his mercy plea to the Indian President. The thing which is unimaginable in Pakistan. Not surprisingly the Pakistani government hasn’t demanded of giving the dead body of Kasab back to Pakistan from the Indian government. This shows the cheap mentality of Pakistani government.

Day 313

Finally, Barack Obama has retained his position at the White House. Well, when I was in America, then it was very unclear about who will be in the White House for the next four years. People were favouring Mitt Romney very much. But one thing is very clear to me. The mindset of voters either in America or in India is totally unpredictable. Let’s see what new changes come in the next four years. According to Barack Obama, best is yet to come. I hope that he keeps his words and turns them in to reality. This is his last chance as the president. I think that he should do something more to make him memorable in the history more than just been the first black president of the America. He has to take every decision very wisely. Of course, he is capable of doing that. He has been doing that for the last four years. He has got his advisors with him. Obama’s re-election has shown the fate of American people in him. Now he has the chance to prove this fate to be right and come up to the expectations of the American people.

Day 312

I know I was absent for four days. But I was busy due to academic reasons. But today, I decided to write before returning to my studies. Well, today it was a hectic day for me. But completed all my important works today. It’s another matter that new assignment has been allotted again. But that will be done in the course of time.
Well, today I’m going to write on the comment made by BJP president Nitin Gadkari. Recent he made a comparison between Swami Vivekananda and underworld don Dawood Ibrahim. Although he has made it clear that he was talking about the intelligence level that if its used in positive direction then it can build a strong nation otherwise it can used in terrorist activities. But his statement has created a political turmoil. There has been a divided opinion in the BJP now. Well the senior leaders like L K Advani are in favour of Gadkari’s exit from the president ship of BJP but the other lobby is there to backup Gadkari. The ruling party and other parties are busy in making strategy to use in the elections to be held in Gujarat. But today, I’m not going to write about the politics.
Let’s have a close look to the statement. The statement and the explanation are saying the same thing. With the intelligence, one can create or can destroy. Swami Vivekananda was a great philosopher and a great thinker. He really motivated people to be united. His parlance and knowledge was extra ordinary. On the second hand, Dawood Ibrahim is suiting in Pakistan and is controlling the underworld in Mumbai. There has to be something due to which Indian government and intelligence agencies aren’t able to do anything with its most wanted terrorist. Actually, the turmoil is due to this thought only. We all know about Swami Vivekananda and Dawood Ibrahim. Our mind is preset about them. That’s why all are thinking that Gadkari has done a blunder in his political career by making such statement. All he was saying was about using the mental intelligence. But we are prejudiced that we can’t make comparison of good and bad. I’m not taking side of Nitin Gadkari. I’m just saying my view. I would say that the Congress party should use its intelligence and make it possible to bring Dawood Ibrahim back to India and may the court of law decide his fate.

Day 311

Again it has been a long time since I wrote my last post. But these days, I was extremely busy in other works. But time has come to become active again. At least in coming days, I’ll write few more posts before taking break due to academic reasons. But I have approximately a month in that. So I have one month in hand. I’m thinking to utilise this one month’s time to increase the number of posts. May be, this will enhance the writing power. Now I don't need any help from your side. Because it’s worthless to say anything to expect any feedback from your side. Whatever I’ll write will be for my pleasure and to enhance my writing. It’s of no use to complaint also because no one is really bothered to hear the complaints also.
Somewhere I feel that I have lost the readership of my blog. Those who claimed to be my regular readers have vanished in thin air. But I hope one day again my regular readers will come with their comments which will direction to my writing. This much is enough for today. Tomorrow I’ll come up with some new idea.

Day 310

The festive season is back again. Today the pious festival of Dusshara or Durga Puja or Navratri, whatever you want to call, has commenced. The aroma in the atmosphere is making me energetic. In spite of cold and cough, I’m feeling excited. Now the nine days will pass very smoothly in worshiping the Goddess Durga and her various forms. Since childhood, we are being taught that Durga Puja or Dusshara symbolises the victory of truth on evil.
But I have few questions in my mind. Have we killed the devil inside us? Still we are bounded my so many evils that we don't think that we are doing anything wrong. Once I read a news article that stated that who says that the milk has become costlier? Many people are going to temples and are pouring milk on the God Shiva’s idol. People are buying milk at any cost in the name of religious rituals. I’m not against the religion. But I’m saying that why can’t we give the milk to the poor beggars who are sitting outside the temple in all weathers. Now the so call Babas and Maatas have make religion as their business. For everything the devotees has to pay huge amounts in the ashrams of these Babas and Maatas.
In which Holy Scriptures it’s written that God will bless those who will waste money and resources like this and leave fellow humans starving? Isn’t it written in the Holy Scriptures that all living beings are having God in it? Then why are we differentiating so much amongst ourselves? Still we have many evils inside us. Let’s pray to Goddess Durga to give us the strength to kill the evils inside us.

Day 309

Politics is the thing which is totally unpredictable. More unpredictable than the weather. If the matter is concerned with the Indian politics then nothing can be said about it. Yesterday, there was nation wide strike in India against the price hike in diesel, cutting of the subsidy in the LPG cylinder and the FDI in retail industry. Mulayam Singh Yadav joined the hands with the left block and other parties in the protest of the decisions mentioned above. But after the Trinamool Congress withdrew its support from the UPA government then Mulayam Singh rushed to support the UPA.  This is something which is going beyond my thinking. The explanation which Mulayam Singh Yadav gave that he doesn’t want the communal forces to stay away from forming the government at centre. Now the situation has come to the number game in Lok Sabha. Even Mamata Banerjee was aware of this point. That’s why she didn’t asked the President for the no confidence motion against the UPA government. She is well aware of the fact that either Samajwadi party or the Bahujan Samajwadi Party will go to support the government because both of them are having the more MPs than the Mamata Banerjee.
But I think that the main game is something different. Well, there is no need to discuss anything about the fuel price hike and the LPG cylinders. The main game is in the FDI in the retail sector. The basic difference is that in various categories of the FDI, there are different percentages. For example in the retail industry its 51%, in aviation industry its 49% and in power industry I think it’s about 40% or 48%. If we go in the history of the foreign companies investing in Indian companies then it always had been 51-49 division. The foreign companies have got 49% only. But now according to the new proposed bill, the foreign companies are going to have 51% because there is a clause in the proposed bill that the foreign companies have to invest 50% in the infrastructure development. So they are getting 2% extra. But with this additional 2% hike, the foreign countries will get the controlling power in their hands.  There is another angle also. There is an expectation that the Congress party is going to have something bigger in the FDI. But that’s in the womb of the time. May be after a decade or so that hidden thing will come in the limelight.
The main thing is that FDI has become a necessary evil. Soon or latter, the union government has to allow the FDI in the retail sector. No matter, which party is in the power at the centre? Then also, the same question will be there which is right now. Like every important decision, the FDI in retail is also having the two sides of the question. Good and bad. Let’s see what will happen in the coming time. I just wish it be the good one for the country.

Day 308

I know I’m not regular these days in writing. It’s not like I’m not getting time. The situation is totally different these days. Actually I don't want to write on something which doesn’t gives satisfaction to me. But today, I’m going to write. I don't want to sit ideal anymore.
These days, there are a lot of uncertainties in the political arena. The breaking news is that the Trinamool Congress has withdrawn the support from the UPA government. All the ministers belonging to the Trinamool Congress will submit their resignation on Friday. This step was taken in protest of the price hike of diesel and removal of the subsidy from the LPG cylinders along with the green signal to the FDI in the retail sector. This has created a political turmoil for the Congress led UPA government. Mamata Banerjee has said that the Congress party wasn’t giving the due respect to the Trinamool Congress.
I think this is not due to the internal war between both the parties. It’s due to the effect of the recent decisions the UPA government took on the fuel price and FDI. I have observed that Mamata Banerjee is pro-people leader. She always pressurise the government about not to increase the prices of anything because it will hurt the pocket of the common man. But sometimes, it becomes difficult for any government or political party to take any decision. The oil companies were suffering the loss of Rs 20,300 crores before the diesel price hike and the cut of subsidized LPG cylinders. Sometimes we have to face the effect of the hard decisions. Mamata Banerjee has forgotten that the oil prices are not determined by the Indian government. It’s regulated by the international market.
It’s true that the FDI in the retail sector is going to hamper the local community very much. To an extent, I agree on this point. But it’s too early to say anything. The bill has to be passed in the Parliament about the FDI. It’s still a proposal. Government is saying that it’s going to generate more jobs in the retail industry but the business community across the country is saying that it’s going to force them to shutter down their shops. Actually, the ill fame of Wal Mart is playing a crucial role in this. Wal Mart is notorious in cleaning out the local traders. But right now, we have to wait and watch.
All I can say is that the coming days are really going to be tough for UPA government. Many allies of the Congress in the UPA are saying that they won’t allow the FDI in the states where they are ruling. On the political front, a lot of things are going to happen. I don't know whether they are going to be good one or the bad one. Just hoping for the best.

Day 307

I’m confused about what to write today. You will think that what’s the unusual phenomenon in that? But today I’m confused about picking the topic. What should I write about the price rise of diesel and cut of the subsidy in the domestic LPG allotment? We all are aware that now the household will get only 6 LPG cylinders per year on the subsidised rate of Rs. 399. After that it will at Rs. 746 per cylinder. The government is saying that the increment in diesel and cutting of the subsidy will fetch Rs. 20,300 crores to the exchequer. But these will increase the burden on the middle class family of the country. The price of every essential commodity will go high due to the increase in the freight charges which will be due to increased diesel price hike. Now the cooking is also going to be effected. What the Congress led UPA is doing these days? Now it has allowed FDI in the retail sector to 51%. The only thing is that the MNCs will require a local partner in dealing with the customers.
I’m unable to understand one thing. Dr. Manmohan Singh is credited to boost the Indian economy two decades back when he was the Finance Minister. But now as a Prime Minister, he is unable to save the Indian economy. Now he is getting directions from Sonia Gandhi. Now after taking these decisions, he is counting Sonia Gandhi to counter the political pressures which he is going to face in the coming days. He has to face the opposition of not only the opposition parties but from the coalition parties also. After two years, the general election is there. So there must be some political move to counter the pressure of the inflation to lure the voters. The plus point with any political party in India is the memory loss of the voters. Indian public forgets the issues very soon. In the starting there will be protests and all. But later on, the public will forget every thing.

Day 306

Sometimes, the word game of Thackeray family amuses me a lot. They are people who speak all the nonsense and tries to create disturbance. Till now, they have failed. Now the RJD chief, Lalu Yadav has given an answer to them. Thackeray family is saying that Bihari migrants are the behind the crimes in Mumbai. I’m unable to understand their cheap mentality. In Mumbai, people from every part of the country are living in harmony. They can’t claim that Mumbai is for Maharastrian only. Lalu Yadav has openly said that Thackeray family has gone to Mumbai from Bihar itself. So according to their own statement, they should leave Mumbai as soon as possible. Even the Congress leader, Digvijay Singh has said the same thing by quoting the book of Raj Thackeray’s grandfather. But the main thing here isn’t about the verbal game between these people. The main thing is that all the people are free to work from anywhere in India. Already the country has been divided on the basis of religion and caste. Now why Thackerys have adopted the cheap mentality of targeting people from Bihar and are dividing the country on the basis of language and region? Instead of keeping themselves engaged in these types of cheap things, they can think about the betterment of state and the country.

Day 305

Today I don't have any topic to write. Actually, I have a reason for this. My studies are keeping me occupied so I’m not having much time to do something extra curricular. But now I have to learn about time management. Time management is going to help me in future also. These days, studies, assignments and presentations are keeping me engaged. But I need to have some time for extra curricular activities also. Without that, I won’t be able to have the command over the current affairs. This is not only going to help me in getting a nice placement but it will help me in after getting placed in a good company. Basically I want to write something new apart from the general topics on which I have written like politics, sports, corruption and the current things which have influenced the daily life in India.

Day 304

I know it has been more than a month now since I wrote my last post in my blog. Well I came back to India on August 8. But I reached my home on August 9. I stayed at home for 12 days before coming to Varanasi. That period was really nice. Enjoyed everything. After spending two and half months in foreign country and then coming back to home gives another feeling. I didn’t accessed internet when I was at home. But after coming to Varanasi, I got the hectic life schedule. Attending tedious lectures. Got busy in explaining my experience at America again and again. I went to my home again for four days due to some official reasons. Then again I’m back in Varanasi. Now life has taken serious turn. In coming three months, many companies will be visiting the campus of my B School. So the tension of getting a decent placement is now hanging on my head. The competition has started. Companies have their basic strategy and aim to select the best students from the B School. Likewise the students are having sole aim to have a decent pay package. I can’t promise that I’ll write regularly. But I’ll try to be regular. Just like I did in America. Writing about the daily routine. At least that will be the best thing to do. Writing won’t get hampered and I won’t be having confusion about what to write?

Saturday, August 4, 2012

Day 303

Now its less than 72 hours for me to take my flight to come back. I’m really waiting for my flight to back home. When I came in America then I was having a thought that I have two and half months to stay. But now its less than 72 hours. The time has passed on its own pace. But sometimes, I felt that it’s passing very fast and sometimes I felt its passing very slowly. Actually Orangeburg isn’t a big place where I found everything according to my necessities. Columbia is the capital of South Carolina and it’s about 40 miles from Orangeburg. But without having a car, that seems to be a very long distance. Actually Columbia had few Indian restaurants and grocery stores. Even though I found some spices and vegetables in Orangeburg which are common in India but still something was missing. Actually we can say that Orangeburg is a small city in Indian context. I didn’t found many things to do here. But when I was in Washington then I really liked the place. May be the reason was that I was feed up while living in Orangeburg and while roaming in Washington gave me a change. But the Washington visit was the most enjoyable and memorable part. I went to Charleston also. But Charleston is more of a historical city. The American civil was got started there and it was Charleston where the Africans were brought to America as slaves. They still have the market called slave market where the slave trade was done. But now it’s more like a modern market where the necessary items are being sold.
There were times when I just stayed in the apartment, wishing to go somewhere. But now at this point of time, looking back seems recalling all those moments I have spent there. For the initial two weeks, I was literally alone. I know how I passed that time. If I wouldn’t have my laptop and internet then I would have gone crazy. But I made myself busy in watching Indian shows on the internet. Now I think that I’m taking all these memories with me back to my home. Everybody back in India, particularly my friends, is expecting me to bring something for them. I don't know how much stuffs I can take with me where I don't have to pay the custom duty and all. But it’s sure that I’m going to disappoint many of them.

Friday, August 3, 2012

Day 302

Today, I’m confused what to write. I have two topics to write one. My confusion is about the selection of the topic. Should I write only one topic or should I write both? If I write both then which one to cover first? A lot of confusion without any solution. Sometimes, it really makes my writing slow. My topics are the ongoing London Olympics and Indian politics. Don't get confused that I’m going to mix politics with Olympics. Okay fine. I’ll write about Olympics first.
Saina Nehwal became the first Indian shuttler to reach the semi finals of badminton game in Olympics on Thursday. Indeed that was a proud moment when she won the match for the country and herself. She has really worked hard from her last performance from the last Olympics when she was defeated in the quarter finals in the last Olympic. This is the proud moment for the country. Every person back home is happy for this victory. In this internet era, news comes late and the comments on the social networking sites began to pop first. But its not the issue that the news comes from the news channel or the comments on the social networking sites, the relevant matter is that the Indian athletes are now doing better in their respective fields. This is a good change in the sporting culture of India. Previously, India was always seen as a laggard in the Olympics. People and media in India have always asked the government and the sport authority about the disastrous performance of the Indian athletes. But since the last Olympics, the hopes of Indians have increased. Now the athletes are also increasing their performance level so that they don't disappoint their countrymen. I wish that the Indian athletes do much better in the ongoing London Olympics and they fetch more medals from the last time.
Now I want to write something about the politics. We all know about the fast movement of Anna Hazzare. But right now, I’m going to write anything about that. I know that every common man of India wants to be connected with the movement of Anna Hazzare. Every common man has got fed up with the corruption in the government. Every common man is angry on that. But right now, I want to draw your attention towards something else. It has been 10 years since the Godhra carnage happened in Gujarat. Since then the so called civil activists and human right activists are targeting Narendra Modi for his non secular stand. But what’s happening in Assam is similar to Godhra. Today Assam is burning due to the communal riots and disharmony. But today the same civil activists and human right activists are silent. They aren’t targeting the Assam state government and the Assam Chief Minister. Are the people who got killed not innocent? Isn’t this an unsecular tension in Assam? If the answer is no then why the same people are silent? Is this just because the Congress party is in power in Assam? Are they silent just because the name of Assam’s Chief Minister isn’t Narendra Modi? This is something I call ridiculous. These so called activists are now scared to say something against the Congress party. These so called secular activists wants to get grants and pat on their backs from the Congress party and nothing else. They have redefined the definition of secularism just to please the Congress party and nothing else. I think these people have become the indirect agents of the Congress party just to target other parties on the issues of secularism, human rights and other issues. But when it comes to the Congress party then they are just silent. In my view, now the time has come for the people to know about the so called secular activists and people should decide themselves whether they want to follow these people or not.

Day 301

The biggest black out of the world is here. It happened only in India. Around 684 million Indians, about ten per cent of world’s total population, were in total blackout. The people were in north, eastern and north eastern part of India. The reason of this total blackout is the collapse of three arterial power lines collapsed. This has affected not only the daily life routine of the country but it has caused devasting consequences. The blackout has affected the train services and air services in 21 states and union territories and the industrial production across the sectors. About 300 miners were struck in the coal mines out of which 200 miners have been rescued in the West Bengal. Airports, hospitals and offices were forced to use their back up power system. The whole economy is also affected by this blackout. The commuters had the maximum difficulties in going to office from and vice versa. The worst part was that many commuters were stuck in the metros in New Delhi and Kolkata. They were either stuck many feet above the ground were underground.
Surprisingly, the union cabinet shuffle happened on the same day. Power minister Sushil Shinde was promoted to Home ministry. Interesting. I know it would be called as the pre planned move because the Finance Ministry was without any minister after Mr Pranab Mukherjee became the President. But the situation is very much worse in the country as the government think it to be. As I have said earlier, not only the daily life is being affected but the economy is also suffering. Many mills and production units across the industries, the transportation of goods by railway has come to halt and many more.
In the western countries, media has started targeting the Indian government. Now they are saying that India wants to be the superpower but India struggle to manage its power problem. First of all, India should have a proper power then it should think of becoming superpower.
The comment of the western media is like a tight slap on the face Indian government. The grids were not maintained properly. The main fault for Tuesday’s blackout was trip at the grid at a power station near Agra. These grids and power stations were constructed in 1951. Now 60 years later, these grids and power stations are not sufficient to cater the increased power demand. Time has come for not only in the increment of power production but for the transmission also. The other reason given by the government officials that UP, Punjab and Haryana were overdrawing the power. If that is the case then why the other states are having blackouts. So instead of passing the blame on others, the officials should work seriously on the power issue.

Day 300

Today I’m writing the 300th post on my blog. Another landmark achieved. I’m really happy today. Not only because of the 300th post but next Monday, I’ll be flying back to India. I don't have the direct flight to New Delhi from Columbia. But first stop from Columbia is Dallas in Texas. From Dallas, I’ll be flying to London. From London to New Delhi. I have a gap of eight hours at London between my flights. I wish I could have the UK visa, so that I could have seen a part of the ongoing Olympic Games.
The Indian athletics are doing pretty well in the ongoing London Olympics. Gagan Narang won the bronze medal in shooting and he won the first medal for India. In badminton, Saina Nehwal in her first game in Olympics by defeating her Belgium opponent Lianne Tan. Ashwini Ponnappa and Jwala Gutta have Wen Hsing Cheng and Yu Chin Chien in the doubles match in badminton. Leander Paes and Vishnu Vardhan have gone in to the second round in tennis. Only sad news is that the Indian hockey team lost their match to Netherlands. But they have put their best effort and gave tough competition to the Netherlands. Overall, the Indian athletes are making the entire nation hopeful of getting more medals this time.
On the home front, the fast of Team Anna has reached its sixth day. There are many supporters of this ongoing fast and they are supporting it to have an honest Lokpal. Families are joining the protest with their children, students bunked their colleges to join the movement and many people have taken leave from their works to express solidarity with Team Anna. This is the prove that people are feed up with the way of the government is working and the corrupt practices of the politicians. A daily wage worker, who earns Rs 300 per day, joined the fast movement of Team Anna because he thinks that the government has become stubborn and it doesn’t thinks about the problem of the common man. Even businessmen and managers are joining this movement. A manager in a MNC has stated that everyone is facing problem in getting every government departments for small things like getting driving licence and birth certificates due to corruption. Many people are joining the Team Anna’s movement because they are rid of the corruption in the government offices. They want to see a corruption free India for their children.

Day 299

I know I was supposed to write the blog yesterday itself. But I couldn’t do that. I began my day after having breakfast at the hotel and went to have the trip of Washington. I went to the Capital building in the starting. Its American Parliament. In other words its senate house where all the representatives of people make amendments and laws. I had many photographs of that place. The entire are is known as Capitol which includes many museums and government offices. Actually it took three hours to just have the glimpse of every museum there. There was a McDonald’s outlet there in that area where I had my lunch. The interesting part was that there were many small birds and a squirrel. Whenever I threw a piece of French Fries towards the squirrel and it caught. Then the squirrel was having the French Fries with its front legs. It was really amazing. I immediately took a snap of the squirrel from my camera. Then I went to White House. But due to the security reasons there were a lot of restrictions on the movement of the vehicles and public. This restriction has been imposed after September 11, 2001. But there is a place on the street where you can have a glimpse of the White House. There were many visitors there, who were taking snaps of each other. After having the snaps, I went to the Lincoln Memorial. It’s a building where there is a huge statue of Abraham Lincoln sitting on a chair. From there the Washington Memorial was visible. As a matter of fact, the Washington Memorial is visible form the Capital also. It’s a 3 miles stretch from Capital to the Washington Memorial. After Lincoln Memorial, I went to hotel Double Tree owned by Hilton group.
After having some rest, I went to have a bath. I don't know but I was very much feeling hot. In India, I used to have hotter temperature and more sweat but yesterday I really felt hot. After having the bath, I felt refreshed. This is the thing which I never did in the last one year. No matter how much I sweated but I never took bath in the evening. After having bath, I dressed up and went out to have a walk on the streets. Before walking my friend took snaps of mine in the front of the hotel. Then we walked about a mile when we found a restaurant. It was having the all Indian food in the Indian style. The restaurant was a self service hotel where I had to pay first. We ordered chicken biryani. My friend proffered to have cheek peas curry along with the chicken biryani and I took lamb curry. The biryani was really delicious. But unfortunately, I got seven seeds of imli in my biryani. The biryani consisted of long grain rice and four to five medium chicken pieces. I really enjoyed every grain of the biryani. Then we walked back to the hotel. When we were on the streets, we came across people of approximately every nationality. Something quiet different from Orangeburg in South Carolina. Here people don’t greet each other like in Orangeburg but who cares. Everyone is happy in his or her private space. I think it is because of that everyone in the Washington is having a busy life. Actually I was told that Washington is having the total area of just 11 square miles. The majority of the staffs working in various government departs are living in Richmond, Virginia. Richmond is just 100 miles from Washington. At one side, Washington is surrounded by Arlington, Virginia. I don't remember the city at the side of Washington.
In short I would only say that trip to Washington was the best part of the American visit of mine. I really enjoyed the every moments I have lived here in Washington.

Day 298

I know that I didn’t write any post yesterday. Actually yesterday, I was having a presentation at Claflin University. When I came back to my apartment, it was in my mind to write something but I was very tired and I dropped the idea of writing anything. Well right now, I’m in Washington D.C. Yes, my friends, it’s true. I’m in the capital of United States of America. Well I came here by car. Its about 500 miles from Orangeburg to Washington. But due to the good roadways, I covered this distance in 8 hours and 40 minutes with two small breaks of 15 minutes each for breakfast and lunch. In the evening, the Dean took us just for a ride of the important buildings in the Washington and dropped us back at the hotel. After getting fresh, I went to an Indian restaurant in Washington to have Indian food. The entire staff there was Indian and the food was totally Indian. After having the delicious dinner, I’m back on the bed of the hotel and writing this blog. Tomorrow I’m going for the tour of Washington.

Day 297

Couple of days back, I logged in to my Facebook account. There was a link on which it was stated to share it. Many of my friends have shared it. It contained a clip about Mr Ratan Tata’s denial of selling 308 Tata Tempos to Pakistan. The reason given by Mr Ratan Tata about this denial was that his company doesn’t want to have any kind of business and business transaction with the country which is a safe house of terrorists. The country which gives shelter and training to terrorists and send them to India for destruction. At the last of the clip, it was stated that the business isn’t done merely for the profit or loss. Business should have some ethics and morals also.
I agree with Mr Ratan Tata and salute him for his decision. In my view, Mr Tata has done extremely right. With his single message, he has made two statements. First statement that there should be no business deals and transaction with Pakistan, who always sends terrorists for destruction in India. Second statement that there should be some ethics and morals in the business. Profit making isn’t the only aim in the business. We should ignore the morals and ethics in the business.
I have written a lot of posts regarding Pakistan and its menace against India. But again and again this issue crops up in some way or another. Some people still believe that we should have friendly nature with Pakistan. But who says that Pakistan should have the same relation with us? I think no one. There had been a lot of cultural programmes to develop the friendship between the two nations. But at the end of the day, India has been betrayed by Pakistan. In 1999, the then Indian Prime Minister, Mr Atal Bihari Vajpayee, went on a bus to Pakistan for friendship and in return we witnessed Kargil war. If this is the return then why should we expect Pakistan to change its stand? India should take some military action against Pakistan. There should an end to terrorists coming to India from Pakistan and killing innocent Indians.
I remember there has been a programme named ‘Aman ki Aasha’ where two major media houses come together to have a series of mutual cultural programmes to enhance the friendship between the two countries. I think there hasn’t been honesty from Pakistani side. So what’s the use of such programmes when the Pakistan‘s army and ISI are planning, giving training to terrorists to India for killing innocent Indians?

Day 296

Again the petrol price has been increased by 70 paise per litre from the midnight last night. In the last month, the prise was cut by Rs 2 as an average. But now the state owned oil companies like Indian Oil Corporation are saying that they are forced to increase the price due to hike in the price of oil in the international market. It is also been said that the oil companies in India has already suffered loss of Rs 2300 crore on the sale of petrol in April and May this year. Out of this amount, Indian Oil Corporation has lost Rs 1050 crore. The statement issued by the Indian Oil Corporation hinted that there will be another price hike in the recent future if the price of oil in international market will continue to rise.
If we compare the prices of petrol in the four metros then we will find that Delhi has the minimum increment of 70 paise per litre. The current price of petrol in Delhi is Rs 67.78 and revise rate is Rs 68.48. The difference is 70 paise per litre. But in Mumbai, the current price is Rs 73.35 and the revise rate is Rs 74.23. The difference is 88 paise per litre. In Kolkata the current price is Rs 72.74 and the revised rate is Rs 73.61. The difference is of 87 paise per litre. In Chennai, the current price is Rs 72.27 and the revised rate is Rs 73.16. The difference is 89 paise per litre. Similarly different states have different increments. These differences are due to taxes in different states.
I wonder that when the prices will go down so that it will be less painful for the middle class of India. It’s the middle class only which gets affected by the hike of the prices of oil and oil products. But we can’t blame the government entirely. It’s true that even I’m affected by the price rise. The general reaction of the people of India is against the government. But if we go in the economic details then we will find that the state owned oil companies are suffering loss of Rs 1,60,000 crore from the loss of sensitive petroleum products under market price. Still the oil firms are selling the diesel at the loss of Rs 10 per litre, Rs 27 per litre on the sale of kerosene and Rs 319 per cylinder of the cooking gas.
Even sometimes the government is helpless to hike the price even after giving huge subsidies on the petroleum products. The second reason of the hike in the petrol price given by the Indian Oil Corporation is that the exchange rate of Dollars and Indian Rupees. The price of oil is in Dollars and these days the exchange rate is high as Rs 55.36. Now the time has come to move towards the alternate source of fuel. We have to switch over to hybrid cars and bikes or automobiles moving on solar energy.

Day 295

Finally the presidential election in India is over. The new President elect, Mr Pranab Mukherjee, secured 7,13,763 votes out of 10,29,750 votes being casted. In terms of percentage, Mr Pranab Mukherjee secured 69.3 percent of the total votes. In his statement, Mr Mukherjee has thanked the people of the country in electing him to the highest office in the country. This can be said as the one sided election for the President. As Mr Mukherjee was UPA’s nomination for the President’s post, he got the huge support from all the factions of the UPA. Although it’s not a surprise to see the ruling party’s candidate winning the Presidential election because it has become a trend in the history of the Presidential election in India that the candidate of the ruling party has won. One thing which is different from the last two Presidents, Mr Mukherjee is a true politician. I’m hoping that Mr Mukherjee doesn’t become just a rubber stamp. At least, he has got a good sense of constitution and politics. Of course, we can’t ignore the fact that he has got a strong grasp of governance. That’s why he was the trouble shooter of the UPA government in both the innings. Whenever and wherever there was any problem, Mr Mukherjee was present there to solve that. I hope that he will be an active President too.

Day 294

These days I’m just counting the days. I have just two weeks to return back to India. My country, my home. For me, the days are passing very slowly. I know time passes in its own pace but for me the time has slowed its pace. Maybe I’m expecting my return date to come soon but that’s not happening.  Every morning, I’m wishing that today is the last day and tomorrow I’m going back to my home. But I get dishearten after seeing the calendar. Really, now, I just want to go back to my home. In the past, I have stayed six months away from my home but now even after two months, I’m feeling that it has been a long time since I have left my home. When I came then I was happy but now I’m really eager to go back to my home. But very soon, I’ll be at my home. I know my returning date will come soon.

Day 293

Life is full of uncertainties. Few days back I wrote an obituary for Mr Dara Singh. That time, I wasn’t aware that with in a week I have to write another obituary for probably first superstar of Bollyhood,  Mr Rajesh Khanna. Rajesh Khanna was a legend and he was truly a superstar. He was country’s heart throb from 1969 to 1975. The era when all the younger ladies of the nation were just crazy for him. Kaka, as Rajesh Khanna was fondly called off, was the style icon of that era. In my view, Bollywood has lost one of its gems. He spends his life behind the arc lights in the same way as he did in front of the lights. He led a life of the real superstar in front of the camera and a simple life behind the camera. In one of his movies, Anand, he played his role very brilliantly. His portrait a man diagnosed with cancer in the last stage but still he never lost his sense of humour. I think that character depicted Kaka’s real nature. One dialogue of that film is ringing in my ear which is like “Hum sab to rang manch ki katputlia hai jahapana jiski dor upar wale ki haath me hai. Kab kaun uthega yeh koi nahi jaanta.” Really this dialogue depicts the real meaning of the life. May Kaka’s soul rest in peace.

Day 292

Today I’m feeling sad. This sadness is due to loneliness. `I don't have any work to do which can make me occupied. I’m sitting here, in America, far away from my home. Now it seems that the time is also moving very slowly. I just have three weeks left to go back to India. But it seems that these three weeks would be very long. I do have some important works lined up in the last week of July but that will be in the last phase. I don't know how I’ll spend the remaining two weeks. I know that the last week of July is going to be hectic one for me. I hope I don't get this sense of loneliness tomorrow. I’m really missing my family and friends back in India.

Day 291

I’m back again after having a break of five days. In these five days, I admit that I haven’t done anything. I wanted to write but due to lack of concentration and lack of enthusiasm to write, I was just spending my time in other works. But I can’t divert myself from writing totally. It’s like that whether you love me or you hate me, I’ll be writing again and again.
I would like to pay tribute to the veteran Bollywood actor Late Dara Singh. He was really a fine actor who has entertained us since1952. But I want to remember him not only as an actor but he was one of the best wrestlers India has ever seen. He went to Singapore in 1947 and become the champion of Malaysia in Indian style wrestling. In 1952, he returned to India and won the title of Indian champion and n 1954, he become Rustam-e-Hind. Dara Singh was an active wrestler till 1983 when he announced his retirement. He was an active wrestler for the 36 years. With wrestling, he was active in the film industry also. And how can one forget his character as Hanuman in the television version of Indian epic, Ramayana. He played the legendary character in such a nice way that people have said that they haven’t seen the Lord Hanuman but he would be looked like the Hanuman played by Dara Singh.
It would be very less to say something about him. It’s like the Hindi proverb that more and more you say for him the less it is for him. This is really true for a person like Dara Singh. I would simply pray that may God rest his soul in peace.

Day 290

I know that for the past four days I was absent in my writing. I do have strong reason for this. First and foremost reason is that for whom I should write. After loosing the readers, I don't feel that I’m answerable to anyone. Second reason is that this is my blog. I’ll write whenever I’ll wish to write.
Since Thursday, I’m having off. So I was in my apartment since Thursday. Here I want to make clarification. Thursday means Thursday in America. By that time, it may be Friday in India. Anyway right now, I’m at my boss’s house. I’m having good time here. He needed my assistance in some work. I helped him and now I’m having drinks with him. He has restricted himself to beer only but has given free hand to me to make my drink from whiskey and wine. His bar is stocked with various varieties of both. I asked for his advice and he suggested me to have Canadian whiskey. Really this one is very nice. I think there is some difference between Indian and foreign whiskeys. Here in America, I’m finding that the wines are a bit smooth and soft than in India. Well, I think I won’t be spared after having just couple of drinks. Now its time for me to go and enjoy the drink.

Day 289

Today, I was going through the internet edition of the daily English newspaper in India. One of the articles was about Abu Jundal. It was clearly stated that Abu Zundal was given high state immunity in Pakistan. His home address mentioned in his passport was near the Lashkar headquarter in Pakistan. Abu Zundal was having close relations with the top Lashkar masterminds as well as the Pakistani army and ISI. According to the report, Zundal was sent to Saudi Arabia to brainwash Indian citizens going for Haj or working in Saudi Arabia. But as usual, the Pakistani administration has denied this. Of course, the Pakistani administration has reason for this. Their reason is that they don't want to accept those facts which will clearly prove that Pakistan is the heaven for all those persons who want to spread terrorism again India. Actually according to me, Pakistani administration is playing dual game.
On the one hand, Pakistani administration is sending terrorists to India after giving training to them and one the other hand, as usual they deny it. Now the Indians are not surprised after the Pakistani denial. On the contrary, some sections in Pakistan are blaming India that India isn’t focusing on the peace talk. India is just focusing on the terrorism issue. According to me, the second part of the Pakistani dual game is that they are recruiting Indian Muslims and targeting them to work against India. Pakistani officers are luring poor Indian Muslims to come to Pakistan either by giving huge amount of money or by promising them high social status in Pakistan. After cracking Indian Muslims, Pakistani officers are making them terrorists after giving training to those Indian Muslims.
It’s a long term plan of Pakistan. In worst case, when the entire world fingers towards Pakistan as the safe ground of terrorists then at that time, Pakistan could say that all the terrorists were Indians not Pakistani. Here few things are bothering me. For example, how much proofs do the UN requires declaring Pakistan as a terrorist country? Why can’t India invade Pakistan in name of search of the terrorists camps in Pakistan and Pakistan occupied Kashmir?
We have sufficient proofs against Pakistan. When America can invade Iraq and Afghanistan to stop terrorism then why can’t India? Until some military action is being taken by India, Pakistan is not going to stop all the terrorist activities. The other option for India is to seek the help of UN. India has enough proofs to prove its point. I don't know what’s wrong in the high level at UN. Is it waiting for more innocent Indians to die?

Day 288

I know that for the last three days I haven’t written anything. This is because I was extremely busy on three days. Since Friday evening, I was busy in series of party with my boss and his friends. I know that you people will think that I have written my last post on Friday and I’m saying now that I was busy since Friday evening. Actually this is because of the time difference between America and India. I usually writ my blog in evening just like I’m doing now. But it’s evening in America and its morning time in India. So, due to this time difference the confusion is there. Well, today is Monday evening in America and Tuesday morning in India. Well, the time difference isn’t the topic for today’s post. I just wanted to make a clarification.
Today I don't want to write any repeated things. I know it’s of no use now. If my repeated requests would have made an impact on my readers then I would have got many comments. But there are no comments on my previous posts. I know I don't have any reader any more. So the topic will be on my mood and in my style. I’ll write as I wish. There are many things on which I wanted to have feedbacks but now I’m totally heart broken. Now I won’t complaint also. It will be easier on both sides. You people won’t have the tension of writing comments and all. I know you people haven’t taken any tension for writing any comments. I’ll also be relieved from the expectation of having the feedbacks.
Actually when one has some expectation then he or she hopes that his expectation will be fulfilled. My expectation was to have comments to improve my writing. But now I don't have any expectation. It’s all broken. It’s true that when an expectation is broken then it really hurts. Anyway, I don't want to get emotional. There is no use of that. With whom I’m sharing my emotions when there is no one to read this post? Now I’m also free like you to write anything which I want without having any expectation of feedbacks.

Day 287

I know I didn’t write anything on the blog yesterday in spite of saying that writing has become my habit. Well, yesterday I wasn’t in mood. Actually yesterday I was a bit tired. So I decided to skip the writing. But anyway, this isn’t going to make any impression on anyone. Nobody is reading my blog now so there is no need to give any explanation now.
Today I decided to write upon the reduction in the oil price. The prices have been reduced to Rs 2.46 per litre. But still the prices are above Rs 70. Actually all the news papers and news channels show the oil prices in the four metro cities only. So here I can compare the prices of New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai. In New Delhi, it’s Rs 70.24 per litre after reducing the price by Rs 2.02. In Mumbai, it’s Rs 73.35 per litre after reducing by Rs 3.10. In Kolkata, it’s Rs 72.74 after reducing Rs 3.07 and in Chennai its Rs 72.74 after reducing Rs 3.07. This indicates that the prices are cut but still the prices are much more. Now its necessity of the people to have petrol in their vehicles. So they are forced to buy the petrol at the price being charged for. But here I’m not going to criticise the government. We all know that the Indian government isn’t an oil producer. Indian government is the oil buyer from the gulf countries.
We all know that the oil is a natural product with limited stock. With the increase of demand and limited stock, it’s natural that the cost of the commodity will go high. Same thing is happening with the petrol. There are many automobiles companies who are having profit year after year. With the increase in the automobiles it’s clear that the demand of the petroleum will go high. It’s obvious that no automobile can run without the petrol. So the emphasis should be on the alternatives. I mean to say that automobile companies have to think about the alternative through which the automobiles will run smoothly.

Day 286

Sometimes it happens that one decide to create something. A feeling of happiness comes in one’s self. But when one really wants to start something new then his mind looses all the directions and one gets confused what to do next? Suddenly the mental block becomes the barrier of the creativity. Same thing is with me today. I was fully determined to write something different today. But as I sat down to write, I found that I don't have any idea about writing. I don't want to write about the daily routine. I want something different. But thanks to you people, I’m not getting any direction. Now it’s hopeless to say anything to you people about writing comments. I’m not sure whether you people are reading my posts on the blog or not.
This is the disadvantage of technology. If I say that its disadvantage of internet then it would be more appropriate. Through internet, a person can access anything. A person can entertain himself or herself, can be in contact with friends, can access the articles and search any detail of any topic to enhance the knowledge. But there are few disadvantages also. Just take the example of you and me. I write every post on the blog with this thought that you will read my post and give comment to me. But I don't know that whether you are reading it or not. The physical distance isn’t there in reading the things which I write but physical monitoring isn’t there. Absence of your comments is converting my doubt in believe that none of readers is reading my blog now.
I know few people are there who really give comments on the posts. But they are also silent these days. I know that they accessing the internet but have forgotten my blog. Otherwise its not possible that they won’t comment on any of the post or won’t mail be asking about the gap in the posts. Its sure now that I have lost all the readers which I used to have earlier. But still, I’m writing. This has become my habit now. Now I treat my blog as my online diary. I don't write my dairy daily. But I write when I really want to write. But the most painful thing is that I have lost the readership. It’s really a sad thing for me.

Tuesday, June 26, 2012

Day 285

I know that for the last two days I haven’t written anything on the blog. Actually I was waiting for the comments from you people. But it’s really sad to say that you people have disappointed me a lot. I was expecting that you people will write something about the topic on which I should write or on my writing style.
Well I was surfing the net. I went to the internet edition of an Indian daily newspaper. The news article was about the extraction of Syed Zabiuddin Ansari alias Abu Zundal from Saudi Arabia to India. Abu Zundal was wanted by the Indian government in Mumbai attack of 26/11. Abu Zundal was arrested on June 21. He has revelled that LeT chief, Hafiz Saeed, was behind the Mumbai attack. Hafiz Saeed has denied his role in the Mumbai attack but now, after Kasab, Zundal’s statement is saying that Hafiz Saeed is involved in the Mumbai attack. Abu Zundal has accepted that he was one of the instructors of the Mumbai attackers and he taught them in Hindi and about the topography of Mumbai. Abu Zundal is an Indian citizen but went to Pakistan and joined Pakistani terrorist organization. Zundal was instructing the attacker on 26/11.
Now every arrest in connection of Mumbai attack and the statement is directly pointing towards the Pakistan and the terror groups it’s sheltering on its soil. Abu Zundal has clearly stated that two officers of Pakistani army were also present with him in the same room when he was instructing the attackers. This clearly says that the Pakistani army and ISI are always behind the terrorists attack in India. I wonder why still the international community isn’t taking any hard actions against Pakistan. Why India isn’t allowed to take military actions against Pakistan as America did for searching and killing of Saddam Hussain and Osama Bin Laden? The only way left to teach Pakistan a proper lesson is the military action taken by India.

Day 284

Today was fun day for me. Actually after ten minutes of going to office, my madam came and told me that her husband will take me and my friend to Columbia to visit their hotels. My boss came there on his schedule time. Columbia is half an hour drive from Orangeburg. Its about 50 miles from here. So while going to Columbia, we talked a lot with the boss. Then we had the visits of hotels. I and my friend had the photographs there. Then we had chicken salad in the lunch. After that, our boss took us to a shop where we can have the good chicken. Before that we went to Wal Mart to buy few stuffs. After all the shopping, we came back to Orangeburg. Then we went to the house of our boss. He gave few spices from his kitchen. By four in the afternoon, we returned to our apartment. We were tired so we took rest. About half past seven, I made scrambled egg. My friend came to kitchen at that time. He took couple oh hours to prepare the chicken curry. After having the dinner, I decided to write this post for the blog.

Day 283

Today I don't have much to tell about my daily routine. The only change in today’s routine was that I didn’t have any work to do. With in five minutes of reaching office, my boss came there. He told me and my friend to accompany him to a meeting being held in one of his hotels. Both of them accompanied him. We went to one of his hotels. There we were in the meeting rooms and we were introduced to the eight managers from eight hotels owned by my boss. Actually there were ten people there. One of the remaining persons was the sales head of the company in which I’m doing internship and the other person was the general manager. We had a three hour session there. Surprisingly today the cab came to office without calling. We came back to the apartment. After lunch, I immediately went to meet the Dean of the university. I had the meeting for an hour. After that, I stayed in the apartment. Now I’m writing this post.

Thursday, June 21, 2012

Day 282

I have come back from class just now. Well I didn’t enjoy the work at office. It’s not like that I’m getting bored. I didn’t enjoy my work at home because I didn’t found the required data which I was finding. So I couldn’t concentrate much on work. I came back to my apartment at the usual time. Then had lunch and had a small nap. Don't know why but today I felt sleepy in day time. This is very rare phenomenon. But in evening, I really enjoyed the class. It was fun.
But there is something missing. I’m missing the content for writing. I need something to write. But I’m missing the topics like my older posts where I used to enjoy writing. I really don't know what had happened to me after coming to America. I have simply lost the grip over my writing. Daily I made my mind to write something different or something new. But I end up by writing my daily schedule. That’s why I missed to write the blog this Sunday because ultimately I found that I was writing the daily schedule only. So please help me out.

Wednesday, June 20, 2012

Day 281

Today I felt very sad. Instead of repeated asking for the comments of readers, I’m getting none. So disappointing and so ridiculous. Well, today I was busy in my work. I completed the work of data entry and informed my boss that I would like to leave as I was feeling hungry. Since my friend has come, we are preparing the food at the apartment only. At least it’s much better to cook the food at the apartment rather than having the limited American food. I’m not describing the American food as bad but majority of the items are beef and pork. I don't eat beef and pork and the chicken item is very limited. Many things are alien for me. I tried few things but I didn’t found the taste as per the taste of the Indian food. It was about quarter past four in the evening when we sat to have our lunch. After lunch, we had rest of about an hour. Then we went to the class. The class was fine. We came to know about an assignment. We tried a lot but were unable to find the right answers to the questions. We are still searching the internet to find the answers. Otherwise, we have to meet to professor tomorrow to get the extension. I hope he will give the extension.

Day 280

I know that yesterday I haven’t written anything on the blog. Actually I wasn’t in mood to write anything. What should I write now? I know that none of my readers is reading my blogs these days. I have told my readers numerous times that if there is any flaw in the content of the posts or in my writing then give your feedbacks in comments. But you people are not writing the comments anything. This proves that none of you are reading the blogs. You people can skip the reading but I can’t skip writing. Now this has become my habit. Yesterday I wasn’t having any topic to write. I don't want to repeat the same daily routine of mine to bore you people more. Even today I thought to write but still I’m not getting anything in my mind. But today I thought to show my anger on you. My writing needs feedback from you people. This is the only way in which I can improve my writing. May be your feedbacks will give the right direction which I need to give you pleasure in reading my blogs.

Sunday, June 17, 2012

Day 279

Well, today I’m very much worried about what to write. I don't have anything special to write about. I haven’t done anything at all. I woke late today. Then did nothing for next couple of hours except chatting on internet. Then suddenly got the temptation to drink. I went to the wine shop and bought vodka for myself. Then I made scrambled egg for myself. I was having my drinks very slowly. Then my friend prepared a nice lunch. But don't know why but the due to drinks I wasn’t having any headache neither I had any such feelings which I used to have in India. I was pretty fine. In evening, I went to have walk. Even then I was walking normally. There must be some affect of the climate or the alcoholic drinks in America are a bit more diluted than in India. Whatever the case may be but the main thing is that I didn’t enjoy it much. Actually I’m used to have wine with my friends and here I’m having it without friends. So may be due to this reason, I’m not getting affected by the wine.

Saturday, June 16, 2012

Day 278

Its time for me to write my blog. Actually today I wasn’t in mood to write the blog. But suddenly I realised that I don't have any reason to skip in writing the blog. Why should I skip this? In the last month, I have skipped a lot. Even after coming to America, I have skipped once. But it would be good if I keep at skipped once only. That’s my target and intention. But I’m forced to remember one proverb that “Man proposes and God disposes.” Here my intention is not to blame God for any further skip. There may be some incidences in future where I couldn’t write anything in spite of being in mood to write.
Anyway, coming to the point, I was free in afternoon after coming from office. My friend, Tausif and I were making plans to go to Wall Mart to buy grocery items as our stock was going to be out of stock. My plan was to call the Dean of the university so that he could take us to some Indian grocery shop in Columbia as I know that there is no Indian grocery store in Orangeburg. But the Dean called me in the morning and he told me that he will be here in Orangeburg on Monday. Then in afternoon, I called the Director. He got ready and in evening he came to my apartment to take us to the Wall Mart. He came at the scheduled time. We went to Wall Mart and bought the necessary items. Then we went to a bar. There we had drinks and came back to my apartment. But its not like I’m drank. I think the climatic condition of America is totally different from India because still after having the drinks I’m quite normal. When I used to drink in India then my condition used to be of totally drunk. But in America, I’m quite normal. In India, I couldn’t have written the post for my blog but here in America, I’m writing all these things with full concentration. Anyway, I’m not arguing about the drinks and its side effects. I’m just comparing the difference. I think tomorrow I can write another post on this. I think I have got another topic to write for tomorrow.
I know that someone is reading my posts. I just need feedback from him. I know I’m writing about my daily routine. But I need feedback about the error in my writing style. I would really appreciate the feedback on my writing style.

Day 277

Today was a type of fun day for me. When I went to office, I was told that there is a technical error in the desktop. So, until the error was rectified, I wasn’t supposed to do any work in the office. As my work is totally based on the desktop for data entry and internet so I got a relief of an hour or so. Then my friend and I went out for some change. We went to Burger King and KFC. We all know about KFC as it’s a world renowned outlet for chicken items. But Burger King is an outlet which isn’t famous in India. Burger King is an outlet which specialises itself in different types of burgers. Really I like the burgers of Burger King. They are indeed very delicious. Well, that’s not the main part. We returned back after a break of half an hour. When we were back in office, we were told that the error was fixed and we were supposed to do the work. I was still in good mood as my work contained about collecting the data of the competitor companies from the internet. I have finished about one Competitor Company yesterday itself. So I was supposed to target another one. But the instructor came and told me that we need the modification in the work which I did last week. She explained me the new format. I accepted to work in the new format. She told me to edit the last work but I still preferred to start fresh. Or rather say in American terms, starting from the scratch. I got agreed to work from starting because my work contained from various sheets and editing those work is tougher than starting afresh. So I started afresh. After working for three hours, I came back to my apartment. Then I took rest and after rest, roamed here and there. Then after returning, we took rest of an hour or so. Then my friend went for cooking and I sat to write the post for the blog. I was thinking about the topic. Then at last, as usual I wrote my daily routine. I hope you people are not getting bored with my stuffs. If you are getting bored, then I have always welcomed your comments as feedback.

Day 276

Today was another day with workload. As usual, I went to my office and worked there for four hours. Then came back to my apartment. Had lunch and after that suddenly my mood was off. I don't know the reason but I wasn’t in a good mood. Suddenly it was looking that nothing is there left interesting. Then one of my friends sent me a funny message. It was around half past one in night back in India. I called him back. We talked about forty five minutes. By his tone, I deduced that even he wasn’t happy. He was saying that the life has become stagnant. There is nothing called excitement left in the life. He was unhappy because his closed friends were ahead of him. It’s not like my friend isn’t doing anything. He has a handsome job in a government department. But when he compared himself with his friends then his annual pay were about half of his friends working in the software industry. Then we talked about our old live. The mistakes we made and the consequences we faced. After talking to him, I felt that everyone has got problems in life. But the way to deal with it is different as everyone’s problem is different. No two problems are identical. After talking to my friend, I went to the university to attend my class. There I had the class and I did the class exercise with my group. After the class, I came back to my apartment. But still, something is there which is making me unhappy. I don't know the reason. May be I’m missing something but I’m unaware of that. Hope so that tomorrow, I won’t be in the same mood.

Day 275

I know I’m a bit late today in writing today’s blog. Well I was busy in office during the day and had a class in the evening. After the class, I’m in my apartment but today I need something different to write for the blog. Daily I’m writing about the daily routine. But today I need something different. This is the thing I’m thinking for the past half an hour. Being in America really makes a lot of difference. These days, I’m not getting any Indian news papers. The news channels which I can see broadcast all the things about the American stuffs. Then I logged on to the internet version of one of the leading Indian newspapers. Two articles got my attention. One was regarding the recommendation to increase the excise duty on the diesel cars by none other than the Union Petroleum Minister himself and another news article was about the Khap community in Haryana.
Right now, I don't want to say anything about what the Union Petroleum Minister has said. I think there is no logic behind that. The whole country is facing the price hike in petrol and diesel in India. If the government accepts whatever Mr Jaipal Reddy has said then the price of small diesel cars will go high by Rs 1.7 lakh per unit and medium to large guzzler will go high by Rs 2.55 lakh per unit. I don't see any logic in this. As far as I remember then the price of the diesel cars are roughly Rs 1 lakh more than the petrol cars. Then what’s the use of increasing the price of the diesel cars? This is really ridiculous. If we exclude the small cars and the SUVs then the rest remaining things will be the tractors and the trucks. Majority of the tractors are being used in Agricultural activities. Is Mr Reddy advocating increasing the price of tractors so that it will add the additional cost to farmers? What exactly is this? And the trucks are being used to transport both commercial and non commercial things. I’m unable to try to figure out what exactly Mr Reddy is trying to say? Because increase in the excise duty in tractors and trucks will ultimately effect the agricultural and non agricultural things. It will make the agricultural products more costlier and non agricultural services more costly. What exactly he wants to say is vague to me. I hope he clarifies it very soon.

Day 274

Today was the first day when I was really busy. I think it was the first day since I came to America that I had been so much busy. I reached office with my friend, Tausif. Different works were allotted to us. A new type of work was given to me in whom I have to search for the different hotels of the competitive companies of the company in which I’m doing internship. I got busy in my work. I searched few different companies which have posted their advertisements on the internet about their hotels. I made a list of them. Around half past one in the afternoon, I left the company. But my cab came at quarter past two to pick me up. From the office, I directly went to the Dean’s office in the university in connection to Tausif. I formally introduced them. Then I went with Tausif in connection to get his photograph done by the university photographer. By the time, we returned, the Dean was about to leave the office due to his pre planned meeting. Then we went to Wal Mart with the Director of MBA Programme to buy grocery for us. We bought many things and came back. Tausif began to cook after change and I went out for my shopping. Soon I came back. Till then Tausif prepared the rice with vegetable in that. Then he made scrambled egg. After eating the home made Indian food, we had a glass of coke. Now I’m writing this post while having the coke. Tomorrow again, it’s going to be a tough day as I have hectic work at office and class in evening.

Day 273

Well, I know I missed to write the post on the blog. Actually, I was a bit lazy yesterday. Lazy in writing anything for the blog. I was just watching movies on the laptop. Don't know why but I wasn’t in mood to write at all. Even today also, the same thing was happening. But suddenly I remembered that I haven’t written anything today. I must write because the more and more delay will again make me absent for a long time. I didn’t want to have break in the writing. Gap in the writing breaks the rhythm of writing. Another reason for not writing yesterday was that I was busy in helping my friend in his shopping. Actually he is getting problem in setting here. From tomorrow, he will start all his work. He came on Friday night and weekends are off in America. So officially his work and interaction with everyone in the university and the company is going to start from tomorrow. My new schedule will also start tomorrow. May be totally new work. I don't know much. Even though, I have been informed about the type of the work but as a fresher I’m totally unaware of the work. But don't worry. Whatever will be the work or the work type, I’m going to write about that in the next blog.

Day 272

Today my friend is coming from India. We were supposed to come together. But his visa was put on hold due to some reasons. The reason was not disclosed to us at American consulate. Anyhow last week, he called me and told me his visa has been cleared. And today he will be landing here in another two and half hours. The Director will come to my apartment and we will go to receive him. Now I’ll not be alone. Being alone is something a sort of punishment for me. Now the tenure of my punishment has come to its end.
Well I have made my posts as my daily routine. Whatever I do in the whole day, I just write it down. So today morning, I was feeling better. I had a comfortable sleep without any shivering. After getting ready, I made my own breakfast. I made omelette along with the bread. My cab came at its scheduled time and dropped me at my office. I finished my work in just two hours. After that I got leave for the day. Now I have weekends to enjoy. From Monday, my new schedule will start. Hoping that I’ll be having some new things to learn while doing it.

Day 271

Since morning, I’m trying to write something new. But I couldn’t concentrate. Well I didn’t go to office today. I called my boss and told her that I won’t be able to come to office. After half an hour, the Dean of the university called me and asked me about my health. I think my boss told him about me. He told me that I should have told him. There are few doctors in the university also. I told him that if I’ll need his help then I’ll definitely call him. After talking with him, I called my mother. She told me take precaution to have warm water. So I boiled the water before having it. I tried to sleep after having bread and medicine. But sleep wasn’t in my mind. So I got up and sat on the chair and turned on my laptop. I watched few videos on internet. Had chats with friends who were online on Face Book. Then I got slight headache. I tried to sleep but couldn’t sleep. Again I sat to watch the video. The residence manager of the apartment came to inspect the room. Actually it’s a routine affair here that the residence manager will inspect every apartment here for cleanliness. Ranking will be awarded on that basis. If the ranking is poor then fine will be imposed. After she went I watched the video again. But again headache was there. So I lay for fifteen to twenty minutes. I wasn’t able to sleep again. Then I thought that I should write post for the blog. When I was about to start then the Director came to my apartment. He also enquired about my health. He told me that he will come tomorrow evening so that we can go to Columbia Metropolitan Airport to receive my friend. I said yes. Then he went from here. Now I’m still all alone in the apartment. Waiting for my friend to come tomorrow.

Day 270

I know yesterday I missed to write the post on the blog. Actually yesterday I was feeling cold. It was raining here in America and I got a bit wet. I was okay till evening. But when I decided to write then I started shivering. I ordered my food from Domino’s and had the food. Then I slept. When I wake up today morning, then I was more shivering. I took the blanket and lay on the bed for an hour. After an hour, I vomited four to five times and only water was coming out. Somehow I got ready and took the bath. Then I went to the office. The problem was that I wasn’t able to rotate my head because of the pain in the neck. I worked there till quarter past one and came back to room. After taking rest for couple of hours, I went to buy few grocery and medicine for myself. I know that medicines show their side effect if it’s taken empty stomach. For the first time I cooked at my apartment here. After that, I slept for an hour. Even now, I’m feeling unwell but better than before. So I thought to write the post for my blog.

Day 269

Today I was busy in my work at office. Time passed very smoothly while working. In words I can say that I enjoyed my work today. The work load was same as earlier but really it was enjoyable. Today I didn’t had the breakfast and lunch. In evening I went to college. I went to meet one of the professors who are teaching me. I spend about half an hour with him. Then I went to Dean’s office. I was talking to two lady staffs there along with the Dean. We were having light moments. Even the Director also came there and joined us. We were talking about the difference between American and Indian cultures. Like we started about the dressing of an American wedding and Indian wedding. The two lady staffs were astonished to know that significance of white dress is totally different in Indian context. They knew that white gown is the bridal dress in America but they were shocked to know that white dress is the widow’s dress in India. Then we started talking about the marriage possessions and the cremation rituals. After spending about an hour there I went to have my dinner. After that I came back to my apartment. Today I was in mood to meet my new friends. They are having more classes than me. I went to university again. But they weren’t in the class. I think they have bunked the class. It was half past eight. I went to Taco Bell to have the chicken brunnito for dinner. I know my friends in India aren’t aware of chicken brunnito. Actually it’s like a chicken roll which is really delicious. I came back to my apartment from Taco Bell. I tried to write something new. I wasted half an hour in that. But ultimately I wrote today’s activities of mine. I hope my readers are not getting bored. Sometimes I doubt that they are reading my posts or not. The reason for my doubt is absence of the comments.

Day 268

Today is Sunday. Like last weekend, this weekend, also, I stayed in my apartment. Actually I spent my time watching videos on YouTube. Today morning, I woke up a bit late. But my head was banging with pain. After couple of hours, the pain became low. I took bath. After bath, the headache was gone. I went to the cafeteria of the university to have brunch. After brunch, I came back to my apartment. I was feeling a bit cold. I took rest for forty five minutes. After that I talked to one of my friends for one and half hours. Then I went to have dinner at the cafeteria. Actually the dinner time at the cafeteria of the university is 4.30 pm to 6 pm. I know its something unusual in Indian context. In India, 6 pm is the time to have snacks. But the rules are different in America and India. After dinner, I went to the shop owned by the Gujarati. We had chat for ten minutes. I asked him about the places where I can go on next weekend. He told me that one, being single, can’t enjoy the places. You need to have a companion. After that he got busy with his customers. I bought couple of stuffs for me and came back to my apartment. I was thinking what to write in today’s post. Finally I thought that I should write about today’s activities. Actually these days I’m not thinking on new ideas to write. But may be from tomorrow, I’ll write on some new things other than my daily routine.

Day 267

According to me, living alone is the biggest punishment one can get. I’m getting the same punishment. It’s not like that I haven’t made any friend in America. I do have friends. But they are living in their own houses. Cell phone is the only medium through which I can be in touch with them. But I have no one to live with me in my apartment here. That’s making my life hell. Basically weekends are off in America. So there was no official work or class for me today. It’s true that I wake up late in the morning. Turned on my laptop and logged in the social networking site called Facebook. I spend couple of hours there before getting ready. After getting ready, I went to the cafeteria of the university to have my brunch. Then I went to the same shop which is owned by another Indian. I had informal chat with him while buying beers and snacks from his store.  Then I came back to my apartment. I called my friends back in India. That time I felt really good. Talking to friends after three weeks. That was really nice. Then I talked to couple of friends more. After that, I watched various videos of YouTube. It was just to kill the time. No companion to talk with makes life a hell. Due to the time difference, when it was early evening then it was late night in India. I couldn’t call any of my friends in spite of being in mood to call them. So to get rid of the boredom I went to that shop again and bought beers again. Then I remembered that today I haven’t written anything on the blog. So I’m writing my blog along with having a can of beer with me. But I’m really disappointed to see no comments on the previous posts of my blog. Sometimes it really gets me angry on those who were regular in writing comments. But I hope that they have read this and I’m sure that they will write the comment very soon.

Day 266

Today, I went to my company to work. I finished my work by half past one in the afternoon. I had my lunch there in the company. From there I came back to my apartment. I took rest and in evening I went to do some shopping. I went to a shop other than the one in which I used to go. I saw an Indian at the second shop. I felt good to see another Indian in America. I bought few stuffs like fried peanut and soft drinks for me. When I was at the cash counter, I asked the owner about his origin. Indeed the owner was from India. He was from Gujarat. We had an informal chat for another five minutes. After that I came back to my room. But unfortunately, I feel lonely. I don't have any room partner and new friend with whom I can talk. So the internet is the only thing I have got to amuse myself.
Life becomes very dull and boring when you don't have any companion with you. I just know few people in America. But all of them have formal relation with me. After the working hours, I’m all alone in my apartment. And the time zone difference between India and America makes a considerable time gap. When I feel alone, I can’t call any way back in India because it’s late night in India and when its day time there then its my sleeping time in America. So the difficulty of being connected to my family and friends is a bit difficult. Now I’m living in different time zone as compared to them. What to do is the main problem here? I’m waiting for the suggestions.

Day 265

Today in the morning, I went to the company to have my summer training. Actually today was my second day as trainee there. But in American terms I’m an intern there who is doing his summer internship there. Well, the work was similar to yesterday. The only difference was that I was to do a bit more work than yesterday. I was fine with today’s work. Actually the company in which I’m having my summer training is having two hotels in the vicinity. My work is to give the codes to their accounts in their main system. My boss was also there. She gave me the new set of codes. I finish my work by quarter past two. Then I came back to my apartment. Around four in the afternoon, my new friend, Saurav came to my apartment. I went to university with him. I did my work and he went to his class. Around half past eight in night, he came to my apartment and took me out. We went to a bar. We spent couple of hours there. I just have 2 draught beers, one large peg of whiskey and a tequila shot. After that I came back to my apartment and I’m writing this blog.

Day 264

Today was a nice day for me. Nice day in the sense that I got some work to do. In the morning, after getting ready, I went to the company where I’m doing my summer training. I went there at the right time. My boss, the owner of the company, was there. She gave me my work station which is half of a room with a desktop. My work was to do the data entry. She gave me few papers and a format to work out. She explained me the work and she went for her meeting. She was busy in the meeting room and I was busy in the work. Although the work was very simple but it was new for me. So I took time to get adjusted and started my work. Around 1 pm, my boss came to my workstation and asked me what I would like to have in lunch. She simply that whether I would like to have pizza? I said yes. She sent one of her employees to bring the pizza for all of us. Then I had my pizza with my boss. After lunch, I told her that I have to catch my evening class so I need go. She looked at my work and she permitted me to go. I came back to my apartment and took rest. Then I went to the cafeteria of my B school to have something to eat. After having food, I went to my class. The class went till 9 pm. I enjoyed the class. Got some new things to learn and had a class exercise to do. It was fun to learn the new thing.

Day 263

Today was the first day when I got work to do. After getting ready in the morning, I went to the Dean’s office of the university where I have come as an exchange student. After spending few minutes there, I went to the office of the company where I have to do summer training. I was surprised to know that the owner of the company is an Indian. Well, it would not be wrong to say that I was more happy than surprised. Well, I talked to the lady who owned the company. I think from tomorrow I have to start my work there. Came back to my apartment with my dean after 12 pm. Then went to the university cafeteria at 1 pm. But unfortunately, I was late. The closing time was 1 pm and I was late by 5 minutes. Then I went to have a pizza at the nearest pizza outlet of Domino’s. While returning, I got all wet in the sudden rain which started. I wasn’t having any place to hide. But fortunately, the rain for just couple of minutes. After having pizza, my stomach was fully loaded and I wasn’t in position to eat anything for next 5-6 hours. Then in evening, I went to have my class in the university. It was my first class there. I met an Indian girl. Her name was Savita and she is from Hyderabad. In the beginning I was thinking that she is a single. But after classes, we interacted with each other. Then I came to know that she is married. Now this was shocking news. She offered me to give lift to me in her car. She told me that I should have a light meal at night. So I got tempted to have a sandwich. So I went to Domino’s again to have the sandwich. She waited for me in her car. After that she dropped me home and went to her home. That was my day today. I shall continue to write like this. But I need few feedbacks so that it keeps me motivated to write daily.

Day 496

JAI SHRI RAM   Actually, I thought to write this post on 22 nd January itself, but I was busy whole day in watching the live broadcas...
