Day 521

 Well, its good to be back. Since, my last post, I was going through some though phase of my life. I lost all the interest of writing and there was something else become more important than writing. Literally, writing post has gone in the cold bag for me. Still, I haven’t overcome that phase but some positive vibes are coming back in my life. So, now I’m redirecting myself towards writing.

 

Yesterday, first phase of voting was completed in Bihar. According to the news channels, 64.46% voters casted their votes across Bihar and it’s the highest percentage voting in state since 1957. Well, I must say that the hike in voters turnout is a good sign for the democracy. This time number of women voters was high in comparison with male voters. This means women are becoming the deciding factor in the state politics also. This also is a good sign. But sadly there were few incidences of violence during the voting. Positive thing is that no killing was reported.

 

Actually, there has been always violent incidences during the voting in Bihar. Booth capturing, killing, attack on political rivals were synonymous with Bihar elections. Its sad to write that during post-independence elections in Bihar, political leaders used man power for booth capturing. Later on, in addition of booth capturing, threatening voters and political opponents. Then there was a time period, when the muscle men of the politicians entered the politics. That started the era of criminalization of politics. Actually, it happened across the country but Bihar was always lime lighted. Bad boys of politics in Bihar became heroes for the Indian media. But every rise has a fall too. Same thing happened with the criminals in politics. Soon the laws were made that criminals won’t be able to contest elections. This was done to make politics criminal free in India and it worked also.

 

Anyway, the main thing in Bihar’s assembly election is that with the rise in voters attendance has set a new hope amongst the political parties in Bihar. Every major political party is claiming that their party or alliance is going to form the government in the state. Well, it will be clear on 14^th November that who will get the mandate for the next five years. But with the past track record of Nitish Kumar, its very uncertain even after the result declaration.

 

I hope that this time, we won’t have the drama for power changing as we have seen in past ten years. This time, Nitish Kumar will stick to the present alliance. I believe that the record breaking turnout of voters is due to the good policies being implemented by him. Although, I think that voters are satisfied with the NDA government but they want a new CM. But I think that there isn’t much option left to the voters. Every alliance has projected their Chief Ministerial candidate. In this situation, if the NDA government is formed then it will be tough to have new face for Chief Minister. Well, now the voters have cast their votes in the first round. EVMs are having the verdict stored inside them.
